Clash with the neighbour in the table. Preview of the match between Lechia Gdańsk and Motor Lublin
On Sunday, 15 February, at 12:15 p.m., we have an away match in Lublin. As part of the 21st round of the PKO Bank Polski Ekstraklasa, we will face Motor on their home turf. We are facing a challenging match against our neighbours in the table. After a good start to the round, we want to maintain our form and return home with all three points.
In the previous round, we faced Cracovia at Polsat Plus Arena Gdańsk. The match ended in a 1–1 draw. Rifet Kapić scored the goal for our team. Earlier, we played a match in Poznań against Lech, where we won 3:1. Tomasz Neugebauer opened the scoring, we scored the second goal after an unfortunate intervention by Antonio Milic, who directed the ball into his own net, and Tomáš Bobček sealed the victory, setting the final score.
– If I remember correctly, since I’ve been here we’ve played Motor twice and both matches ended in draws. It’s a very good team with a talented coach. I’ve spoken about coach Stolarski several times already. We are similar in that we both love football. We also both look for weaknesses in our opponents and try to exploit them. It will probably be the same this time. In general, it’s very hard to win matches in this league. If you look at the table, the differences are minimal – sometimes just one place or one goal. There are only seven points separating the top teams and just four at the bottom. That shows how competitive this league is. Every match is very difficult – said coach John Carver at the pre-match press conference.
– Motor are very well organised and play with high intensity. I know it will be a very tough match. We also know what the pitch in Lublin looks like. Because of the weather and the early kick-off, we will have to adapt to the conditions there. I hope neither the weather nor the pitch will affect how both teams want to play – added the White-Green coach.
RIVAL PROFILE – MOTOR LUBLIN
Before the league games resumed, Motor planned three friendly matches. In the opening match, the Lublin team confidently defeated Stal Stalowa Wola 5:1, and in the next match, they won just as impressively, 5:1, against IMT Novi Beograd. The third scheduled test match against Vardar Skopje did not take place due to unfavourable weather conditions.
Motor kicked off the 2026 league season with a home match against Pogoń Szczecin. The Lublin team took advantage of their home field and won 2:1, adding the first points of the new year to their tally. In the next round, they travelled to Białystok to face Jagiellonia, where they had to acknowledge the superiority of the hosts, losing 1:4.
Motor currently occupies 13th place in the PKO Bank Polski Ekstraklasa table, just behind our team. In the upcoming match, the Lublin team will certainly want to score points to improve their position in the league table.
