Coach Vladyslav Lupashko ahead of #LGDWAR

Ahead of Friday’s match between Lechia and Warta Poznań, head coach Vladyslav Lupashko answered questions from the media.

On the situation within the team:

I don’t want to make things easier for our opponents by revealing who will play and who will not. The training process is the most important thing to me and at the moment it is not where I would like it to be. It will improve with every new player who joins us. I’m waiting for the ban to be lifted. We have two options, depending on whether new players are available to us.

Bujar Pllana, Bohdan Viunnyk and Rifet Kapić are taking part in training. Will they be available for selection?

I’ll repeat myself – I don’t want to give our opponents any clues. You’ll be able to answer that question yourselves when you see our line-up. Some players see their future at Lechia, while others do not. We’ll see in tomorrow’s match. The situation should settle down within a week or two, and then everything will become clear. For us, the training process is the most important thing.

On how Lechia intend to play:

Our style is based on intense pressing, attacking dominance and possession of the ball. However, given the current state of our squad, we need to make some adjustments. It is very difficult for the young players, both in possession and physically. Some of them only joined training one or two weeks ago.

On what kind of match he expects:

Both we and Warta lost our previous matches, although in different ways. Our team is very young, and many of our players were simply delighted to make their first-team debuts. Their development is the most important thing.

I keep telling them not to worry about mistakes. I don’t like it when a player is afraid of something. We cannot put pressure on the team to deliver immediate results – the players need to go through this process themselves. When players of proven quality join us, the youngsters will be able to develop alongside them. Our opponents are experienced and will come here looking for a win. Our young players must fight for victory.
