Carver: A goal conceded in the last minute always hurts
Coach John Carver shared his thoughts after the #LEGLGD match. The White-and-Green coach also answered questions from journalists.
The coach’s comments on the match:
Of course, we are quite frustrated, but we also feel a certain amount of satisfaction with how we played. Coming to a team and an environment like this is always difficult. Today, we showed determination and ambition, and I think we deserved more than a draw. If we continue to play like we did today and in the previous match, we will definitely win more than we lose.
Conceding a goal in the last minute always hurts, we experienced that last season, but then we lost 1-2. I think the effort and the way we play shows that the team is developing very well. You can see what problems we cause our opponents.
Lechia couldn’t prevent conceding a goal in the final minutes:
We try to develop young players as quickly as possible. It’s not that one person makes a mistake every time. Sometimes in the final minutes of the match, when the opponent is desperate and throws the ball into the penalty area, we just have to defend it. We can talk about the goal we conceded, but let’s also look at the fact that at one point we could have been winning 3-1.
First and foremost, we have to block crosses into our penalty area, and we also have to be more decisive in front of our opponents’ goal. I can’t sit here and criticise my players because I’m proud of what they showed and how they played in Warsaw.
