Lechia Gdańsk players have completed their first friendly match of the summer pre-season. On Saturday afternoon at Traugutta 29, they defeated GKS Tychy 2:0 thanks to two goals from Tomáš Bobček.
The first minutes were dictated by Lechia, who controlled the play and tried to break through the guests’ defense using the flanks. In the 9th minute, Bobček received the ball just outside the penalty area, but hesitated to shoot. Five minutes later, Tomasz Wójtowicz broke through the defense and spotted the advancing Bobček. However, the striker couldn’t beat GKS Tychy’s goalkeeper from a promising position.
Moments later – in the 16th minute – the Wójtowicz–Bobček duo struck again. The former crossed the ball, and the latter headed it straight into the net. Just two minutes later, there was some chaos in Lechia’s box, but it didn’t result in a goal for the visitors.
In the 24th minute, GKS had a good scoring opportunity – one of their players took a shot that narrowly missed the post. Seven minutes later, Bobček once again came close to scoring after capitalizing on a defensive error, but his shot went wide.
The final phase of the first half saw renewed attacking efforts from Lechia. One of them paid off in the 38th minute when Wójtowicz passed to Bobček, who scored his second goal from close range. No further goals were scored before the halftime whistle.
Goalless Second Half
During the break, coach John Carver made five changes. Sarnavskyi, Kapić, Pllana, Vojtko, and Głogowski replaced Ojrzyński, Zhelizko, Olsson, Kałahur, and Bobček.
After the break, Mena was the first to threaten the visitors’ goal, but his shot was saved by the GKS goalkeeper. In the 55th Karl Wendt tried his luck from distance, but the ball skimmed the crossbar.
After the hour mark, the momentum shifted slightly towards Lechia’s penalty area. Sarnavskyi remained alert and had no trouble stopping the opponent’s attempts. In response, Lechia had a chance, but Wiśniewski lacked precision in front of goal. The action ended in a corner kick.
That wasn’t the end of Lechia’s attacking efforts. Głogowski collected a high ball but couldn’t control it well enough to direct it on target. Karl Wendt and Bartosz Szczepankiewicz also had their chances, but neither could convert. In the closing minutes, Sarnavskyi made a crucial save, stopping a dangerous header from the opposition.
