Bohdan Viunnyk participated in a press briefing ahead of Sunday’s match against Cracovia.
On the upcoming match with Cracovia:
– Cracovia creates a lot of good scoring opportunities, which is why we’re working at 200% in training on our defense.
On his goal in the match against Piast:
– I didn’t have many chances, but the one I got in the match against Piast ended in a goal. I’m not satisfied—I’d like to have five or ten chances to score three or four goals, but that’s something we need to work on as a team.
On mindset and locker room atmosphere:
– For us, it doesn’t matter who we’re playing; all teams in the Ekstraklasa play at the highest level. Cracovia is near the top of the table, but we’ll play against them just like we would any other team.
On the team’s injury situation:
– The atmosphere is good, we just have some injury issues with the players; for example, today we only had fifteen players in training. But we work with what we’ve got.
On the pitch condition at the stadium:
– The pitch quality isn’t great, but that’s not a big issue for us. If you’re a technically skilled player, you should be able to control the ball even on a pitch like that.
On Lechia’s position in the table:
– Emotionally and mentally, it’s a bit tough seeing our position in the table and remembering all our games. We had a chance to win five or six matches, which would have put us in third place. But every difficult moment is valuable experience for us.
On the low number of players in today’s training:
– I told the guys on the bus on the way to training that we have to be like those 300 Spartans, playing and training to the max—all fifteen players we have available.
On being the only striker on the team who is not injured:
– For me, it makes no difference whether I have a backup or not. I always give 100%, but I wish all the injured players a speedy recovery and good health.
On scoring goals:
– Of course, I want to score one, two, or even three goals in every match to help the team. I’d also like for our defense to keep a clean sheet, but with our current injury problems, we need to focus on scoring.
