Carver: This victory gave us a positive boost

After the Pomeranian Derby, head coach John Carver shared his thoughts on the match. The #LGDPOG game was the last one before the international break.

Match comment:

Before going into the details of the game, I have to mention how important this victory was. When you lose 3-4 players from the starting eleven, the substitutes have to step up, and they performed very well. As for the match itself, it was quite exciting – we expected an open game with plenty of chances for both sides.

I’d like to highlight Alex Paulsen – his two saves were world-class. That can really help him ahead of the international break. It was a very tough match against a team that has invested a lot, even though they had won only once in their last six games. This victory gave us a positive boost. The international break comes at the perfect time.

Every match can turn the table upside down, which is why we told the players they had to stay focused for 95-96 minutes. The final minutes are the most important, as the opposition pushes forward, but the players handled it well.

How the team will use the international break:

Now we will have a few days of complete rest. We return to training midweek. We play against Korona on Monday, so we will have plenty of time. Looking at our players, it’s clear they need some rest.
