The 7th round is behind us, in which Jagiellonia Białystok proved stronger than Lechia Gdańsk. Head coach John Carver summed up Sunday’s clash during the press conference.
The coach’s comment on the match events:
I’m disappointed with the result, but not with some of the moments. I think when you look at these two teams, there is a difference. You can see how Adrian Siemieniec has built this club and how well it is managed. The experience of recent years shows in the Ekstraklasa, as well as in European competitions. Sometimes you have to be honest and admit that the opponent was better than us – and we have to make use of this match. A similar situation happened two weeks ago against Zagłębie Lubin. Of course, the players are disappointed now. Congratulations to Adrian and Jagiellonia. I wish them good luck in European competitions.
Journalists asked the Green-and-Whites’ coach about the lack of efficiency in front of goal:
That’s a good question, and you’re right – that was the issue. This happens in a young team, where stability from match to match is not always there, but we’re trying to find the right balance. We didn’t take our chances, and we have to treat that as credit for the upcoming matches. Looking closely at the schedule, we’ve played against TOP 4 teams. We’ve faced the Polish champions and a team that reached the quarterfinals in European competition. And let’s not forget – we started this season with a -5 point penalty.
The transfer window is still open. Can we expect more reinforcements?
“We’re working extremely hard on transfers, and there are 8 days left until the window closes. Two players are waiting for work permits, but there will be even more new faces. I hope defenders are on their way.”
Karl Wendt went out on loan until December:
This loan move is to make room for new players. Remember as well that two players are waiting for their work permits, and there will be more new arrivals.
