Matchday 32 brings a clash in Gdańsk between Lechia and Korona Kielce. Ahead of Sunday’s game, head coach John Carver met with the media.
On the squad situation ahead of #LGDKOR:
Szymon has been playing through some minor issues. Fortunately, he’s been training, and Bogdan is also back in training with us, which is very good news.
Korona Kielce is also facing injury problems:
We know Korona Kielce is dealing with some squad and fitness issues. I’ve heard one of their players has a broken nose. We’ll see if he plays at all and whether the news about his absence turns out to be true.
What kind of match is the coach expecting:
It’s going to be a very tough match. We’re up against a team that’s in better form than we are. Since I arrived, Korona has been on the rise, and this is definitely the most difficult match we’ve had in recent times. They are in excellent form and have a lot of players who can cause us problems. We must do everything we can to win.
Lechia currently sits five points above the relegation zone:
There’s pressure to win every game. We want to secure our safety as quickly as possible. What makes me happy is that the players are handling the pressure well. I won’t be watching Śląsk’s match—I’ll be focusing on what we need to do.
Three matches remain in the season:
When I arrived here in December, I was given a clear task—to keep Lechia in the Ekstraklasa and to build something for the future. That hasn’t changed. For now, I’m fully focused on that. We want to stay in the league, and I hope it will be resolved soon. We need to stay focused on the final three games. We’ll see what happens in those matches. That’s the approach we’ve taken. My staff and I are fully focused on the next match. I’m really enjoying this time and experience.
