In Matchweek 13 of the PKO Bank Polski Ekstraklasa, Lechia will play away against Raków. Before the trip to Częstochowa, head coach John Carver met with the media.
Team’s health situation ahead of Sunday’s clash:
We have a few injury issues, but we still have one more training session ahead of us. There’s also a small virus going around the club, so we need to see how the team reacts and who is able to complete the session. The situation isn’t ideal before our run of games, but we have to deal with it.
Bartek Kłudka will join us for training today, and we’ll see how he feels before making any decisions.
Every player is very important to us.
On Lechia’s approach to the game against Raków:
Raków’s strength lies in their squad. Looking back at last season, they almost won the championship – it was decided in the final two matches. They’ve strengthened significantly and invested a lot of money in building the team. I watched their UEFA Europa Conference League match – they played very well and really impressed me. In my opinion, they should have won that game. When you look at their current position in the league table, it doesn’t truly reflect their quality. We’re expecting a very tough game against a solid opponent.
Lechia currently sit 16th in the table, but a win could lift them out of the relegation zone:
Since the day I arrived here, there has been pressure. We have to deal with whatever comes our way.
This situation isn’t really different from what we’ve faced in the past. Honestly, both the team and the staff are used to pressure.
The team’s last away trip to Gliwice ended on a positive note:
I haven’t seen a better goal this season. The way our two players transitioned from defence to attack — that was something fantastic!
When asked about Camilo Mena’s behaviour on the pitch, Carver said:
The biggest improvement he’s made recently is his teamwork. He’s a young player, he’s learning, and that’s a natural part of development. He’s putting our guidance into practice, and thanks to that, he’ll become a better footballer.
