On Saturday, 26 July 2025 we will play our first match at Polsat Plus Arena in the 2025/26 season. In the second round of the PKO Bank Polski Ekstraklasa, we will face the Polish champions, Lech Poznań. The first whistle blows at 8:15 pm.
Last week, our team played a match against Górnik Zabrze, which ended in a 1:2 defeat. The only goal for our team was scored by Rifet Kapić from a penalty kick. We have another match ahead of us, which will certainly not be the easiest – Lech Poznań is the current Polish champion and a very demanding opponent. However, we are determined to score our first points in this match.
We waited until the last moment to see if the match would take place. I found out late that we would play the match as scheduled. Of course, we approached the preparations in the same way as if the match were to take place normally. I am glad that we will play on Saturday, because after a defeat, you always want to get back on the pitch quickly. Lech achieved a very good result in the Champions League qualifiers. I think that Tuesday’s match will not affect our rival’s physical form – said coach John Carver at his pre-match press conference.
When you play against the Polish champions, it’s always a difficult match. Our rivals didn’t perform well at the start of the season and will want to redeem themselves. The true face of Lech? They are the Polish champions. After what I saw in Tuesday’s match, I think the disappointment they felt after the start of the season is now behind them. Ishak scored a hat-trick, so we’ll have to watch out for him too. Lech has a lot of good players, I know a lot about Palma, who came from Celtic. But I don’t think they’ll change their system. However, we’re focusing on ourselves – added the coach of the White-Greens.
The attitude towards this match is similar to that of a Champions League match. The fans’ expectations are high, there will be a lot of them on Saturday, and this is our Bursztynek, our fortress. We will fight for our fans. – said Bohdan Viunnyk at a press briefing.
