CONFERENCE I Coach Szymon Grabowski before the match against Radomiak Radom

Coach Szymon Grabowski answered journalists’ questions before the match against Radomiak Radom.

We are preparing for this match. We constantly keep in mind what we need to work on, but we also have a lot of positive feedback about our team, which definitely gives us a reason for optimism before the upcoming game. We constantly keep in mind that it has been a long time since we last won at our stadium. We will do everything we can to bring a lot of joy to our fans. because that is the most important thing for us, and only then will we think about earning points. These two microcycles, or what you could call an extended microcycle due to the international break, have given us a lot of time to work, and I hope the results will be visible by Saturday – said coach Grabowski.

About the health situation in the team:

– Aside from Louis D’Arrigo, Tomasz Wójtowicz will also be unavailable; the rest of the players are ready to play.

On whether the defensive play has improved:

We have definitely managed to improve, as the time we had was indeed quite long. It allowed us to work on all aspects. However, we will find out on Saturday how much we have enhanced our play, refined our behavior, and how confident we are in one-on-one situations. So, there are still some question marks, but what I see in training, I would like to see on Saturday, and then we will all be satisfied.

On the conclusions after analyzing Radomiak:

We respect this opponent because they are undeniably a very dangerous team when they have the ball. However, I won’t hide the fact that our preparation is focused eighty percent, if not more, on our own game. We are aware that we have the ability to dictate the conditions, and the final result will depend on our performance and approach.

On the changes in mood after the victory against Górnik Zabrze:

We were definitely pleased with the victory, just as we are with every previous and likely every future win. I wouldn’t say the team looks entirely different compared to when we were struggling with results. I’m not being polite or distorting reality. As for the players, they are very conscious of their tasks. In each subsequent microcycle, I see a team that is focused on their actions. We know, and they know, that the potential is there. Now, it’s a matter of unlocking that potential every weekend. Their persistence and continuous belief in the process are the best evidence that we are capable of improving game by game, enhancing the team, and achieving even better results.

On Radomiak’s defensive shortcomings and whether we can expect many goals on both sides:

Of course, fans can expect many goals, and likely any impartial observer will approach the match with that expectation. I wouldn’t mind winning the game 5-4, because I think a 4-4 draw wouldn’t satisfy us. We will strive for victory at every moment of the match. One of our goals is to demonstrate that what we have been working on is organized well enough that there won’t be room for the four goals you mentioned.

On the conclusion of the transfer window:

We can speculate and wonder, but it’s pointless. The transfer window has closed. There were announcements, and everyone at the club, whether loudly or quietly, discussed it. The situation is that we have a closed squad, which is good—one could even say very good. We have a squad that believes in its abilities. Whether it’s Bohdan or other players, I think each of them still has significant potential. It’s my job and the staff’s job to extract even more from the players because we can get a lot out of the squad we have now.

On the earlier statements about the need for reinforcements:

This squad is very good. We would like it to be even better, with competition for every position. As of today, Bohdan Viunnyk remains our sole ‘number 9,’ and I believe that a transfer would have allowed us to see more competition in that role. This doesn’t contradict my stance at all, as I’ve never complained and won’t start now. The previous squad we talked about was very good, and so is this one. However, in the future, we definitely want it to be even better, larger in terms of the number of players, and for us not to have to rely too often on junior players, who have their own important matches in the Central Junior League. So, we do have room for improvement in the future, but for now, we are satisfied with what we have.
