During the press conference, coach Szymon Grabowski answered journalists’ questions ahead of the upcoming match in Mielec.
– Before the match against Stal Mielec, we are in a very good mood. We are hungry for victory and eager to achieve this success on the opponent’s field. A group will travel to Mielec that will be aware of the opponent’s strengths and will certainly have great respect for Stal, but we will do everything to return to Gdańsk with three points. – said coach Grabowski.
On the absence of Camilo Mena in the squad:
– It’s not just Camilo Mena; I think that the injured players like Tomas Bobcek and Wójtowicz are also a significant loss, there’s no denying that. However, since these players have been absent for quite some time, we are prepared for this eventuality. The players who will be replacing them, or who will come on during the match, will have clearly defined tasks, and I am absolutely convinced that they will rise to the occasion.
On the attitude before the match:
– We will go onto the field in Mielec to win, and we truly believe in this ultimate success. We realize that one could say that neighbors in the table or teams with very similar point records will meet. We know how important this match is, not only in terms of the standings but also for the good functioning here, within the locker room. Over these two weeks leading up to the next match, we definitely want to maintain the best possible mood to prepare for the upcoming game.
On the potential of Stal Mielec:
– The potential of Stal is well known to us, but when analyzing our opponents, we focused on the period since the new coach took over the team because under coach Niedźwiedź, Stal Mielec has not lost yet. One could say they are scoring points, whether in the Cup, as I consider that a draw rather than a loss, or in the League. It is evident that this team is well-organized and has a clear plan for building. If you say that Mielec performed well against Widzew and other teams at the top, I think we can say the same about ourselves, or even better. We respect our opponents and know their strengths, but with confidence in our own abilities, we are heading to Mielec.
