In the 3rd round of the PKO BP Ekstraklasa, Lechia Gdańsk came close to claiming all three points on the tough away ground in Kraków. The Gdańsk side took the lead twice, but Cracovia managed to equalize in stoppage time, resulting in a dramatic 2-2 draw. Goals for Lechia were scored by Tomáš Bobček and Ivan Zhelizko.
From the opening minutes, Lechia had to withstand intense pressing from the hosts. David Olafsson struck the side netting dangerously, and soon after Filip Stojilković was stopped by the alert Gdańsk defenders. The Green-and-Whites responded in the 10th minute: after a well-executed throw-in and a clever dummy by Elias Olsson, Tomáš Bobček scored with a half-turn shot to make it 1-0. After taking the lead, Lechia controlled the tempo, calmly circulating the ball. Cracovia had a chance to respond, but Martin Minchev missed a great opportunity. As the half went on, the game slowed and became more physical. In the 37th minute, the hosts finally broke through: after an uncertain intervention from Maksym Diaczuk, Stojilković pounced and cleverly beat the Lechia goalkeeper. The visitors almost regained the lead before halftime, but Bobček’s long-range strike hit the post.
One goal each after the break
After the interval, Cracovia pushed forward immediately. In the 48th minute, Stojilković fired off target. Moments later, Lechia responded dynamically. Following a corner kick from Rifet Kapić, Bohdan Viunnyk attempted a header but couldn’t find the net. In the 54th minute, Ivan Zhelizko restored hope for the visitors: after a long throw-in fell to his feet, the Lechia midfielder unleashed a spectacular shot from outside the box to make it 2-1. Cracovia nearly leveled again quickly—Gustav Henriksson hit the crossbar, and moments later Otar Kakabadze was denied brilliantly by Weirauch, who made several key saves to keep Lechia ahead.
In the 73rd minute, the hosts appealed for a penalty for a possible handball by Olsson, but after a VAR consultation, the referee waved play on. In response, Bobček could have sealed the win for Lechia, but his solo effort ended with an off-target shot. Late in the match, Cracovia pinned the visitors back in their own half. In stoppage time, Kakabadze delivered a perfect cross into the box. Stojilković, the Kraków hero, was in the right place again and scored with a header to make it 2-2, denying Lechia the win right at the death.
