In their last league match, our players put on a spectacular performance in Szczecin, defeating Pogoń 4–3. Camilo Mena, Ivan Zhelizko, Kacper Sezonienko and, after a shot by Dawid Kurminowski and a ricochet, Danijel Lončar scored an own goal.
On Wednesday, we added another victory – this time in the STS Polish Cup competition. In Pruszków, we defeated Pogoń Grodzisk Mazowiecki 1–0 thanks to a goal by Aleksandar Ćirković, which secured our promotion to the round of 32. Our last challenge in September is ahead of us – a match against Korona Kielce. It promises to be an intense battle, in which every centimetre of the pitch will count. We have a clear goal: to win this match and end the month with a full set of victories.
– Korona has been in very good form since I arrived here. They are constantly improving. Coach Zieliński is doing an excellent job. He also had to gently rebuild the team, just like we did over the last few months. – said coach John Carver at the pre-match press conference.
– They are good at their system and how they play. They are very good at counterattacks and direct in their attacking play. They have fast offensive players. They are also solid in defence and do not concede too many goals. It will definitely be an exciting match, full of entertainment. Korona is playing at home and will want to win. However, I do not have a crystal ball and cannot predict how this match will turn out. Time will give us the answer to that question. – added the White-Greens coach to the statement.
RIVAL PROFILE – KORONA KIELCE
Korona defeated Stal Rzeszów 1–0 in the Polish Cup and thus advanced to the next round of the competition. In their last league match, the Kielce team drew 0-0 with Arka Gdynia, which allowed them to maintain their high position in the table. Korona is currently in 5th place and is in stable form, making it a dangerous opponent for any team. The team from Kielce performs particularly well at its home stadium, where it is able to impose its style of play and put pressure on its opponents. In the next match, the Kielce team will want to take advantage of its home field to score more valuable points and strengthen its position at the top of the league.
This season, Korona has strengthened its squad with several transfers, including Viktor Popov from Bulgarian club Cherno More, Slobodan Rubežić from Aberdeen, Tamar Svetlin from Slovenian club Celje, Vladimir Nikolov from Slavia Sofia, and Stjepan Davidović from Slovenian club NK Radomlje.
