Draw to end the training camp: Lechia – Mladost 1:1
Thursday’s friendly match against FK Mladost Lučani concluded Lechia’s winter training camp. Despite creating numerous chances, the Green-and-Whites drew 1:1, with the only goal for John Carver’s side scored by Camilo Mena.
The game began at a high tempo. As early as the 6th minute, Lechia created their first threat from a free-kick, but the ball was cleared near the penalty area. In response, Mladost tried to threaten from a set piece, but Alex Paulsen remained untroubled in goal.
As the minutes passed, Lechia began to dominate more clearly. On one occasion, Mena made a strong run down the right wing and found Bobček perfectly inside the box, but the striker’s shot went just wide. Moments later, a rough challenge on Sezonienko forced him off the pitch with a head injury, replaced by Bohdan Viunnyk.
Despite their opponents’ aggressive play, the Green-and-Whites stuck to their game plan. In the 19th minute, Mena, Wójtowicz, and Bobček combined well down the flank, but once again the move lacked a finishing touch. Lechia kept up their intensity, pushing Mladost deep into their own half, but couldn’t find the breakthrough.
Neugebauer and Mena both came close – the midfielder tried a long-range shot, and the winger had a one-on-one with the Mladost goalkeeper, who came out on top in both cases. The Serbian side responded with a dangerous attack, but Paulsen made a crucial save before Lechia’s defenders cleared the ball off the line.
In the 41st minute, a free kick from Zhelizko caused more trouble for the opposition – Rodin got his head to the ball, which narrowly missed the crossbar. The first half ended goalless.
One goal each
After the break, rain slowed the tempo slightly, but Lechia continued to dominate possession. In the 49th minute, Cirković’s shot went inches wide of the post. However, in the 56th minute, the Serbian team took the lead from a corner kick.
The Green-and-Whites quickly reacted and went on the offensive. Shots from Mena and Cirković were blocked, and in the 70th minute, Paulsen made another key intervention, cutting down the angle to stop a dangerous counterattack.
Lechia kept pushing for an equalizer. Bobček and Kurminowski had good chances, but neither could find the net. Finally, in the 83rd minute, Camilo Mena finished off a well-built team move to make it 1–1. Late in the game, Wójtowicz had a great chance with a header, but it went just wide.
