Lechia defeated by FC Hradec Králové in third friendly match

In their third friendly during the training camp in Turkey, the Green-and-Whites were beaten 1:2 by Czech side FC Hradec Králové. Lechia’s only goal was scored by Kacper Sezonienko. Their opponents currently sit seventh in the Czech First League.

Head coach John Carver opted for greater rotation in this match. Starting opportunities were given to Bartłomiej Kłudka and Miłosz Kałahur on the defensive flanks. In attack, Anton Tsarenko and Dawid Kurminowski started the game, while Tomas Bobček came off the bench in the final phase. Camilo Mena, Aleksandar Cirković, and Tomasz Wójtowicz were among those who did not feature.

The Czech team started the game better, creating more danger in front of Lechia’s goal. However, it was the Green-and-Whites who took the lead. In the 42nd minute, after a cross from Rifet Kapić and a scramble in the penalty area, the ball fell to Kacper Sezonienko. His first header was blocked, but he reacted quickly and converted the rebound with his foot to make it 1:0 for Lechia.

After the break, the opponents managed to turn the game around. In the 54th minute, Mick van Buren equalized, and in the 71st minute Jakub Hodek scored the winning goal for FC Hradec Králové, capitalizing on defensive mistakes from Lechia. The Gdańsk side had several chances to level the score – Igor Bambecki and Bohdan Viunnyk both came close. In the closing minutes, Tomas Bobček had two good opportunities: first his shot was blocked, and then, in the final minute, his attempt was cleared off the line by a Czech defender.
