Lechia to Compete in the Betclic 1. Liga
Lechia Gdańsk will compete in the 2026/27 Betclic 1. Liga season.
The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in Lausanne has ruled today that it lacks jurisdiction to hear the appeal lodged by the club on 8 May 2026.
„First of all, I would like to apologise to all our fans. We did everything we possibly could to have our rights prevail, but in vain. Unfortunately, we need to start again from scratch. Our objective is to be promoted at the end of the 2026/2027 season. We will have no choice but to sell our best players and to build up a new team, hopefully stronger than the 2024/2025 Lechia. We trust in our new coaching staff more than ever, and we will all work very hard to make it happen” – said Paolo Urfer, President of Lechia Gdańsk.
„Secondly, I would like to send my congratulations to Mr Kulecha, the president of the PZPN, to Mr Łukasz Wachowski , the General secretary of the PZPN, and to Mr Freddy Furst, the head of the Licensing Committee of the PZPN. You achieved your objective: Lechia is relegated. You managed to avoid to have legality of the -5 point sanction reviewed by an independent Tribunal. Bravo!” – added.
„Third, our Club still considers that PZPN has abused his position of dominance, at the cost of our Club, and we will never accept that. Discrimination and abuse of law cannot be tolerated in a country like Poland” – concluded.
