#LGDJAG: Victory Over the Polish Champions

Back from the break with 3 points! In Saturday’s match at the Polsat Plus Arena Gdańsk, Lechia defeated Jagiellonia Białystok 1–0 thanks to a goal from Bohdan Viunnyk.

The match began evenly. Lechia were the first to threaten near the goal, but without scoring. In response, the visitors from Białystok pushed forward on the left wing, though that too failed to produce danger. As the minutes went on, the Green and Whites became increasingly dominant, putting pressure on their opponents. Khlan and Mena both tried shots, but Jagiellonia’s goalkeeper was up to the task, performing well between the posts.

Moments later, it got very dangerous in front of the Tricity team’s goal. Following a Jagiellonia attack, Bogdan Sarnavskyi mis-hit the ball, which then fell to Miłosz Kałahur, who attempted an intervention, but unfortunately the ball struck the crossbar.

In response to that scare, the hosts regained initiative. In the 26th minute, Bohdan Viunnyk had a chance, but once again the Białystok keeper managed to intervene. Eight minutes later, Tomasz Neugebauer took matters into his own hands, but his shot was also saved by Sławomir Abramowicz. No goals were scored by the end of the first half, though both Khlan for Lechia and Darko Churlinov for Jagiellonia had good chances.

A Goal worth three points

After the break, Jesus Imaz took the first shot, but it went straight into Elias Olsson’s hands. The Green and Whites responded in the 53rd minute with a shot from Maksym Khlan, though it wasn’t enough to put his team ahead.

In the 65th minute, Lechia finally broke the deadlock! After a set piece, Bujar Pllana headed the ball on, and Bohdan Viunnyk smashed it into the net. From that moment on, John Carver’s players turned up the pressure. In the 77th minute, it should have been 2–0 for the Green and Whites. Camilo Mena broke into the penalty area, but Abramowicz deflected the ball for a corner.

The final minutes were dominated by the Polish Champions, who camped around Lechia’s box. Lamine Diaby-Fadiga had a great opportunity, but the hosts defended bravely. The Green and Whites held off Jagiellonia’s late surge and secured all three points!
