#LGDKOR: A Rollercoaster win against Korona

A true football thriller unfolded in Gdańsk, where Lechia defeated Korona Kielce 3:2 in dramatic fashion. Despite the visitors leveling the score, the home side landed the final blow. In stoppage time, Kacper Sezonienko became the hero, securing all three points for the White-Greens.

The match began with a strong start from the visitors, who imposed a high tempo from the opening whistle. In the 5th minute, Nono tested Szymon Weirauch’s alertness, and shortly after, Dawid Błanik came close to scoring, but his shot was blocked. Despite Korona’s promising start, it was Lechia who opened the scoring. In the 12th minute, Maksym Khlan went down in the penalty area after a challenge from Miłosz Trojak. The referee initially waved play on, but VAR intervened and prompted a review, resulting in a penalty. Bohdan Viunnyk stepped up and confidently placed the ball into the top left corner to give Lechia the lead.

From that point on, the home side started to take control. Korona continued to threaten, especially through Błanik, who repeatedly tried to surprise the Gdańsk goalkeeper without success. Lechia also had several chances, including further opportunities for Viunnyk, Michał Głogowski, and Ivan Zhelizko. The score remained unchanged until added time. After a dreadful error by the Korona keeper, Camilo Mena seized the ball, rounded the goalkeeper, and passed to Głogowski, whose shot missed the target. Moments later, following a corner kick, Ivan Zhelizko found the net after a deflection to make it 2:0.

Rollercoaster

After the break, Korona refused to give in and quickly looked to reclaim control. In the 50th minute, Wiktor Długosz produced a stunning free-kick that flew into the top corner. Just ten minutes later, another brilliant combination between Błanik and Długosz ended with a precise strike into the far corner from the latter, bringing the visitors level. Energized, Korona pressed forward in pursuit of victory, but Lechia held firm. Both sides had their chances to grab a winner. Lechia relied on set pieces and individual efforts from Zhelizko and Anton Tsarenko, while Korona came close after capitalizing on defensive errors and Fornalczyk’s penetrating runs.
Tension grew by the minute, and it became clear that a single mistake could decide the match. In the 86th minute, Zhelizko nearly scored an own goal with a poor clearance, but the ball missed the post. In stoppage time, Gdańsk found their hero. In the 90th minute, Sezonienko latched onto a perfect pass from Mena and fired a powerful shot past Rafał Mamla to seal a dramatic 3–2 win.
