Maintain the winning streak. Match preview Lechia Gdańsk – Cracovia

This Friday, February 6 at 8:30 p.m., we will play our first home match of 2026 at the Polsat Plus Arena. In Round 20 of the PKO Bank Polski Ekstraklasa, we will face Cracovia. After a successful start to the spring round, we want to keep the momentum going and claim another three points in front of our home crowd.

We returned to Gdańsk in very high spirits after our away victory over Lech Poznań. In the Round 19 match, we defeated “Kolejorz” 3:1. Tomasz Neugebauer opened the scoring, the second goal came after an unfortunate intervention by Antonio Milić, who put the ball into his own net, and the third was scored by Tomáš Bobček, who sealed our win.

– We are creating chances, which is good, but we need to score more goals. I would be very happy if we scored even more! We have also made progress in defence – we defended our penalty area very well and cleared the ball effectively – said head coach John Carver at the pre-match press conference.

– Cracovia have changed their system and style of play. They have lost a few players, but they still have very good footballers. I watched their match against Termalica and we have a very difficult game ahead of us. They have very strong attacking players. We will do everything we can to make it difficult for them – the White-Greens head coach added.

– We started the round very well, with a win at a difficult venue where we hadn’t won for a long time. However, the results were already good in autumn and now we want to maintain that – Kacper Sezonienko said at the press briefing.

OPPONENT PROFILE – CRACOVIA

With 30 points to their name, Cracovia currently sit 4th in the PKO Bank Polski Ekstraklasa table and remain among the league’s frontrunners. The team from Kraków made a strong start to 2026. In their first match after the winter break, the “Pasy” secured a 1:0 away victory over Termalica, collecting all three points.

Cracovia spent their pre-season training camp in Belek, Turkey, where they played three friendly matches. All of them ended in draws – 1:1 against FK Čukarički, 1:1 against Veres Rivne, and 2:2 against Artis Brno. The unbeaten run in friendlies confirmed the team’s solid form ahead of the spring round. Last season, Cracovia finished 6th in the league table, and the current campaign shows that the Kraków side are aiming to compete for even higher objectives.

RECENT MATCHES AGAINST CRACOVIA

The last time we faced Cracovia was on August 3, 2025, in Kraków, in Round 3 of the current PKO Bank Polski Ekstraklasa season. The match ended in a 2:2 draw, with goals for our side scored by Tomáš Bobček and Ivan Zhelizko.

In the previous season, our encounters with the “Pasy” produced contrasting results. In the away fixture on May 4, 2025, we secured a convincing 2:0 victory thanks to goals from Maksym Khlan and Ivan Zhelizko. However, in the match at Polsat Plus Arena, played on November 3, 2024, we had to acknowledge the superiority of our opponents, losing 1:2. Our only goal that day was scored by Bujar Pllana.
