In the away match of the 11th round of PKO BP Ekstraklasa we lost to Stal Mielec 1:2. We invite you to listen to the post-match press conference with coach Szymon Grabowski.
– I want to start with two things. First of all, by thanking our fans who travelled all over Poland to support us. I want to apologise to them for going back to Gdańsk in a sad mood. I would like to congratulate the opponent on their victory and our players for putting a lot of strength into this game. Unfortunately, we will return bitter and, most importantly, without even one point.
– I think we started the match well. A little bit of luck was at the post. We started to dominate and have an optical advantage. I think we should have dominated and scored goals and it would have been easier. We definitely have a grudge against ourselves for the second half because we didn’t hold onto the ball long enough. We were giving it away too easily to the opponent, who was winding up and had the advantage. No less, we organised well especially in low defence, defended the penalty area well and this match should have ended in a draw. You have to give credit to the players for how they defended.
– I want to say that this is the first time I have done this. It’s the first time I’m going to talk about refereeing work at a conference, because my feeling is that we just feel wronged. We have a lot of question marks in our heads, certainly two. The first is what happened when the referee spotted a foul on Bohdan Viunnyk, where we scored, according to me and the technical referee, a correct goal, but according to the main referee and the referees on VAR, not. The second question mark is even bigger. What happened at the moment of the loss of our first goal, when Wlazlo pushes Pila, who felt down. The result is that we lose the second goal. I ask the question, where were the referees then. That’s why we are bitter and don’t understand these decisions. Unfortunately, life is testing us once again, but we will certainly come back stronger.
