Second win for Lechia in Turkey: Lechia – Lokomotiv Sofia 2:1

Lechia Gdańsk secured their second victory during the winter training camp in Turkey. After a 1:0 win over Serbian side Železničar Pančevo, the White-and-Greens defeated Bulgarian team Lokomotiv Sofia 2:1. Once again, Camilo Mena found the back of the net, scoring his second goal in this year’s friendly matches. The winning goal was added by Bohdan Viunnyk from the penalty spot.

The opening minutes of the match belonged to Lokomotiv, who looked dangerous from set pieces. After a shot from Spas Delev, Alex Paulsen produced an excellent save. As the game progressed, however, Lechia took control and began creating more scoring opportunities. In the 30th minute, a good move from Cirković was calmly finished by Camilo Mena, who slotted the ball into an empty net. Just before halftime, the opponents equalized – following a cross into the box, Georgi Minchev headed the ball into the goal.

In the second half, the White-and-Greens consistently pushed for the winning goal. Close to scoring were, among others, Bobček with a header and Ivan Zhelizko from free kicks. The decisive moment finally came in the 81st minute. After a foul on Bohdan Viunnyk, the referee awarded a penalty, and the fouled player confidently converted it to secure a 2:1 victory.

Lechia still have two more friendly matches to play in Turkey. Their next opponent will be Czech side FC Hradec Králové, and the final test will come against Serbian club Mladost Lučani.
