Lechia Gdańsk claimed a spectacular victory, demolishing Bruk-Bet Termalica Nieciecza 5–1 in Matchweek 17 of the PKO Bank Polski Ekstraklasa. The goals for the Biało-Zieloni were scored by: a brace from Tomas Bobcek, and strikes from Rifet Kapić, Matej Rodin, and Maksym Diachuk.

The match was billed as a high-stakes showdown. Termalica arrived in Gdańsk boosted by back-to-back wins over Legia Warsaw and Arka Gdynia, while Lechia came off a solid 2:2 draw at Łazienkowska. John Carver sent out the same starting XI he used in Warsaw, with Alex Paulsen and Bartłomiej Kłudka returning to the match squad.

Lechia dominate from the start

From the opening whistle, the hosts took complete control. In the 2nd minute Camilo Mena struck dangerously, and moments later Termalica blocked an attempt from Bobcek. In the 14th minute the Slovak forward won a penalty after his shot toward an empty goal was stopped by Gabriel Isik’s hand. Bobcek confidently converted from the spot to put Lechia ahead.

Termalica respond, but Kapić strikes beautifully

Lechia continued to push forward. A powerful effort from Ivan Zhelizko forced Chovan into an excellent save, but missed chances soon proved costly. In the 32nd minute Jesus Jimenez equalised after a pass from Rafał Kurzawa. However, Lechia regained the lead before halftime. In the 39th minute Rifet Kapić unleashed a stunning long-range strike — one of the goals of the round — sending the hosts into the break 2:1 up.

Second half fully controlled by Lechia

After the restart, Lechia only turned up the tempo. In the 53rd minute a blistering run by Camilo Mena ended with a perfect pass to Bobcek, who slotted home his second of the night. Moments later the defenders joined in the scoring: Matej Rodin made it 4:1 with a precise header and Maksym Diachuk stretched the lead further with a fifth goal.

During this spell, Termalica were completely outmatched as Lechia played with total confidence and intensity.

The visitors threatened only once — in the 68th minute Szymon Weirauch parried a bouncing shot from Jimenez. From there, Lechia calmly controlled the match and secured three crucial points, moving out of the relegation zone.
