Time for a rematch. Match preview: Lechia Gdańsk – Górnik Zabrze

This evening at 8:30 PM at the Polsat Plus Arena Gdańsk, we will face Górnik Zabrze in the 18th round of the PKO Bank Polski Ekstraklasa. After losing the match in the STS Polish Cup, our players will step onto the pitch aiming to take revenge and secure valuable points in front of our home crowd.

Fans can expect a match full of emotions and commitment. A special, festive St. Nicholas atmosphere is building at the Polsat Plus Arena, which may help our team secure three points. It is also Lechia’s last match of the year, so it’s worth supporting the team and ending the calendar year together in a great atmosphere.

Our last league match in Gdańsk was played in the 17th round of the PKO Bank Polski Ekstraklasa, and it was a true showcase of our offensive strength. We confidently defeated Bruk-Bet Termalica Nieciecza 5:1, delivering entertaining football from the first to the last minute. The goals for our team were scored by Tomáš Bobček (two), Rifet Kapić, Matej Rodin, and Maksym Diachuk. Thanks to this victory, we showed that we can impose our own tempo and effectively make use of our chances in front of the opponent’s goal. However, in the most recent clash with Górnik Zabrze in the STS Polish Cup, we had to acknowledge the superiority of the opponent — we lost 1:3, with Dawid Kurminowski scoring our only goal. Now, with full determination, we approach the league rematch, wanting to show our strength at home, earn valuable points, and once again bring joy to our supporters at the Polsat Plus Arena in this special St. Nicholas atmosphere.

Our opponents have a lot of quality in their squad. We expect a tough match because they are still the leaders of the Ekstraklasa. In our first meeting this season, we didn’t play badly at all, yet we left Zabrze without points, which shows they are a good team. I must add that when we play at home, we are capable of beating anyone. We won’t change our style of play and I think they won’t either, so we’ll see how things develop. I certainly want to avoid a basketball-like tempo and constant trading of blows – said coach John Carver at the pre-match press conference.
