Lechia’s first victory of the season came in the crucial Tricity Derby against Arka Gdynia. The only goal was scored by Dawid Kurminowski in the 86th minute of the match played at the Polsat Plus Arena.
The Green-and-Whites entered the clash with more energy and commitment than their rivals from Gdynia. John Carver’s players wanted from the very start to assert their dominance and show that Arka would once again face a tough battle in Gdańsk. Already in the 2nd minute, Lechia had their first opportunity. Camilo Mena crossed into the box, an Arka defender misjudged his clearance, and the ball fell directly to Kacper Sezonienko. The Gdańsk forward struck a volley but hit it too strongly, sending it over the crossbar.

Hide Vitalucci went one-on-one with Szymon Weirauch, but Lechia’s goalkeeper reacted brilliantly, waited the Japanese midfielder out, and cleared the ball from his feet. Just two minutes later, after a neat build-up, Camilo Mena again delivered a cross into the visitors’ penalty area. Tomas Bobček rose highest but his header lacked power to trouble Arka’s goalkeeper.

Camilo Mena outplayed Vitalucci on the byline and sent a diagonal pass to Bohdan Viunnyk, whose fierce shot forced Damian Węglarz into a difficult save. The Arka keeper spilled the ball, and an unfortunate clearance from a defender left it at the feet of Ivan Zhelizko on the edge of the box, but his shot went off target.

In the final action of the game, Arka nearly equalized, but after Szymon Kocyła’s shot, Szymon Weirauch produced another excellent save to preserve the clean sheet and seal another derby win for Lechia Gdańsk.
