Vladyslav Lupashko after Lechia vs Stal Mielec

Following Lechia Gdańsk’s impressive 7:1 victory over Stal Mielec, head coach Vladyslav Lupashko answered questions from the media. He spoke about the fans’ happiness, the work still needed to improve the team’s chemistry, and the development of his players.

The coach’s assessment of the match:

We won the game, but there were some situations that I was not particularly pleased with. First and foremost, I’m happy that our fans are happy. That is the most important thing right now and we should enjoy it.

According to the coach, the team still needs time to develop its chemistry:

We haven’t spent much time together. We had big plans for this international break, but seven of our players have received call-ups. We wanted to work on improving the coordination of the entire team. We still need to keep getting better and become more cohesive, both with and without the ball.

Of course, these international call-ups are a sign of the club’s good work. They are important for its image, future and the players’ experience. From my perspective, however, it is not ideal because we wanted to take another step forward. We will continue working with the players who stay with us.

Javier Mena and Vladislav Blănuță are among the players who are still getting to know their teammates on the pitch:

I can mention Mena – he doesn’t know his teammates that well yet and doesn’t always know exactly where he should move on the pitch. The same applies to Vladislav Blănuță, who has only been training with us for three weeks. We have quite a few players in a similar situation.

As a coach, I should also be learning about my players’ strengths and weaknesses during training sessions, but often I only discover certain things during matches.
