Vladyslav Lupashko ahead of Lechia vs Pogoń Siedlce
On Friday, August 21, Lechia Gdańsk will host Pogoń Siedlce at Polsat Plus Arena. Ahead of the match, head coach Vladyslav Lupashko met with the media.
Danylo Beskorovaynyi is the White and Greens’ latest signing:
He is ready, but not one hundred percent. He has only completed one training cycle with us. We understand that there are always a lot of questions when a new player arrives. The club is doing everything it can to help him. I think you will see him on the pitch tomorrow.
The coach now has more players at his disposal, increasing competition within the squad:
Thank you for that question. It is very important for the club. Right now, it is about combining quality with intensity. We have to train with great intensity, but if there is no quality, that becomes a problem. The same applies when there is quality but no intensity.
A lot of young players are training with us and getting used to the fact that they have to work hard every single day. This is something that has to shape and develop them.
All the players who are in the starting line-up and ready to play have no problems with motivation. They have to understand that it is very important to me that they give one hundred percent in training.
How does the coach assess the upcoming opponent?
They are a team that look good on the ball, are dangerous on the counter-attack, want to attack quickly and apply pressure. We have our own plan and we are prepared.
What can we expect from Lechia in attack?
That is the right question. If we do not score many goals in training, it will be similar in matches. We are working a lot on our finishing. Improving our effectiveness in front of goal will translate into our performances in matches.
There have been positive reports about Axel Holewiński:
We have to go back to what the coach and the club expect. Our board also told me that he is a very high-quality goalkeeper. However, his first training sessions have shown that there is still quite a lot of work to do.
The goalkeepers who have been working with us since the beginning are currently a little ahead of Axel. That is not Axel’s fault — it is simply a matter of time. He will catch up. Every player who has worked with me has managed to make up the difference, so he just needs time.
