The previous season undoubtedly gave us a lot of excitement and excitement. Thanks to our collective commitment and hard work, we won the PKO Bank Polski Ekstraklasa back-to-back games and returned to the elite. For our team, the 2023/24 league season ended on May 26, 2024 after the match against Miedzia Legnica. In the interval between games, we played four sparring matches. In the first of these we won against the team of Only Lechia Gdansk 7:1. In three consecutive sparring matches, we drew 1:1. First against Chojniczanka Chojnice, then against Legia Warsaw and in the last sparring match against Wisla Płock. This season we will start the season with an away meeting with Slask Wroclaw at Tarczynski Arena.
We are happy to inaugurate this season on the field of the vice-champion of Poland, on the field of Silesia. I think it will be a very cool experience for us, already the first of the experiences that await us in the Ekstraklasa, but also a cool time for our and Slask’s fans. I expect the match to be an open encounter. Surely we will approach this meeting with our heads held high and with such a bold resolve that we will want to continue what we started in the 1st division, in the Ekstraklasa. For sure, life will verify us, I think we will also learn and skillfully draw conclusions, but it’s the kind of Lechia DNA that we showed in the 1st league we will also be able to show in the Ekstraklasa,” said coach Szymon Grabowski at a pre-match press conference.
The preparatory period was certainly tough for everyone. We worked hard in training, in the camp, a lot of overworked units. We are optimistic about the new round, about the Ekstraklasa. We want to show our best side, we want to show what we showed in League 1. We want to prove that we were the best team there. We want to score points at the beginning as well as later in the league. We look forward to this match – Dominik Piła said at a press briefing.
