Carver: The opponents play with very high energy
In the 25th round of the PKO Bank Polski Ekstraklasa, Lechia Gdańsk will travel to Katowice to face GKS Katowice. Ahead of the match in Upper Silesia, head coach John Carver spoke with journalists.
The mood in the Lechia dressing room after the last victory
Morale has increased significantly after the win. I would also add that when you play well and achieve a result in that way, you should enjoy it, but you also need to stay calm in that joy. Immediately after the final whistle we started thinking about the match against GKS Katowice.
What kind of GKS Katowice does the coach expect?
This team reflects their coach, Rafał Górak, who has a lot of experience. He also has an experienced squad, with many Polish players in the lineup and, above all, players with Ekstraklasa experience. It is a very good team, tactically organized and capable of playing the game in different ways.
They will want to play through the middle, but they are not limited to one style of play. They can play balls behind the defensive line or use Zrelak, who is a strong striker. They play with very high energy and intensity, which is characteristic of teams coached by Górak.
We are looking at what worked in the September match that we won 2–0 and how we played then. Both our team and the opposition have changed slightly since that time. Our opponents will be without two suspended defenders due to yellow cards, including their captain Arkadiusz Jędrych. That situation is different compared to the previous meeting.
