Carver: Time for action
On Sunday evening, Lechia Gdańsk will face Legia Warszawa in an Ekstraklasa clash. Kick-off is scheduled for 5:30 PM.
What is the atmosphere like within the team:
It’s not a pleasant situation, but we cannot feel sorry for ourselves. A lot of strong words were spoken this week and we believe they will be productive and bring results. But as I said after the match in Łódź – this is not the time for talking, but for action.
A huge match awaits us. We know who we are playing against. There will be 35,000 fans supporting us. We do not need anything more than that. I also want to add that there was great competition during training sessions.
In general, there is a lot of pressure. But since the first day I arrived here, the players have been under pressure and I think they are used to playing with it. We have no influence over outside pressure. We know there will be expectations from the fans. We have to focus on the pitch.
What kind of opponent does the coach expect:
Sometimes it works in a way that a team becomes more relaxed after achieving its first objective and starts playing with more confidence. But sometimes, once you complete your task early, you can become too relaxed and start thinking about holidays.
When it comes to Legia, I do not think the players will be relaxed. They will come here focused on taking all three points.
Has the Lechia coaching staff found the reason behind the team’s recent form:
I can guarantee you there will be changes in the team. We have injuries to Viunnyk and Kurminowski, and we have also lost Indrit Mavraj – he badly twisted his ankle. Cirković only returned to training on Thursday because he had been feeling unwell. We have two days left to make decisions.
In previous matches the players took responsibility, but after the game in Łódź we wanted to try different methods. These conversations were not only with the players, but also within the club itself. They were good conversations and it was a moment when everyone had to say what was truly on their mind.
Ivan Zhelizko will be available against Legia after his yellow card from the Widzew match was rescinded:
Yes, that was a huge relief. For us and for Ivan himself, who trained very well yesterday. He was on fire.
Matej Rodin has become a father:
He felt relieved – his little daughter Rebeka was born. Congratulations to the whole family, you can see how proud he is. So we will see how it affects him on the pitch.
