Lechia Gdańsk’s marathon of matches ended in defeat, as they lost 0:3 to Korona Kielce. The goals for the home side were scored by Wiktor Długosz (two) and Martin Remacle.
The match began at a fast pace. In the 3rd minute, Lechia could have taken the lead after a powerful long-range shot by Tomasz Neugebauer, but the ball struck the post. Moments later, Korona created a dangerous chance – Pau Resta’s header was saved by Alex Paulsen, and the play was stopped for offside.
In the 16th minute, the hosts took the lead. After a cross from Marcel Pięczek, Wiktor Długosz found himself in a perfect position and headed the ball into the net, capitalizing on a defensive error by Lechia.
The visitors tried to respond – Neugebauer shot from a free kick in the 22nd minute, followed later by Tomas Bobček (29’), but they lacked precision in front of Xavier Dziekoński’s goal. Korona led 1:0 at halftime.
Two more after the break
After the restart, it was the team from Kielce who attacked first. Martin Remacle’s long-range strike went just wide of Paulsen’s goal. In response, Lechia created their best chance to equalize – in a one-on-one situation, Camilo Mena’s shot was saved by Dziekoński, and Tomas Bobček’s follow-up into the empty net went wide.
That missed opportunity was quickly punished. In the 51st minute, after a cross from Dawid Błanik, Wiktor Długosz scored again, completing his brace.
In the 61st minute, Lechia came close to a consolation goal – Mena’s long-range strike hit the post. The visitors kept pushing forward, but in the 79th minute their task became much harder after Miłosz Kałahur was shown a red card for a foul on Długosz.
The result was sealed in the 87th minute when Martin Remacle, after following up on his own shot, scored Korona’s third goal.
