Coach Szymon Grabowski answered journalists’ questions ahead of the match against Pogoń Szczecin.
On Lechia’s Position in the Table:
– We’re not focusing on statistics or what has happened so far. After the international break, both teams meeting on Saturday will have their own goals.
Our focus is on scoring points before the end of the year because we definitely need them. We have a clear plan and specific tasks for each player. Luckily, we still have two days before the first whistle, which we’ll use for full-team training.
We’re glad that the players returning from international duty, such as Tsarenko and Maksym, are fully fit. I’ll be able to use them, and we can train at optimal strength.
On Injuries to Wojciech Madej and Marcel Bajko:
– I’d like to take this opportunity to send my best wishes and a speedy recovery to Wojtek Madej, a junior player who supported us during the international break. Unfortunately, he suffered a serious injury—a displaced leg fracture. We’re keeping our fingers crossed for him.
Marcel Bajko, another young player training with us regularly, also sustained a serious injury—a displaced arm fracture—during a league match. We wish both of these young men a swift recovery.
On the Health of the First Team:
– No new injuries have occurred, but unfortunately, we haven’t managed to get everyone back to 100%. Our medical staff is working hard, and I believe the players who take the field on Saturday will be fully ready to compete.
On Sergiy Buletsa’s Situation:
– Sergiy is ready to train again. He had some health issues, but I believe they’ve been fully resolved. He’s now competing and fighting for a place in the starting lineup.
On His 50th League Match with Lechia:
– I think I’ll reflect on my stats at Lechia after my time here. Right now, I’m focused solely on Saturday’s match. Statistics are interesting, but I want them to look even better after Saturday.
On Working with Kacper Sezonienko:
– During the international break, we didn’t have many players due to injuries or call-ups. There was a lot of individual and positional work. I think that Kacper, along with our wingers, eights, and tens, will be responsible for the final third and what happens in the opponent’s penalty area.
Positioning will be very important, and I hope we’ll have more presence in the penalty box, creating chances and taking shots. We’ve been working on this not just with Kacper but with the entire group of offensive players.
On Conversations with the President and Preparations After the Match in Kielce:
– Yesterday, I had a conversation with the president about the upcoming three matches. We all want to score as many points as possible, and we’ll do everything we can to make that happen. These two weeks have been calm enough for us to work on improving the condition of players recovering from injuries, and I’m pleased with that. Ultimately, we’ll evaluate this period after the final whistle on Saturday.
On Pogoń’s Poor Away Results:
– I don’t want to view Pogoń through the lens of their results so far. They’ve undoubtedly used these two weeks to improve and address their struggles in the last three matches.
We’ve analyzed Pogoń thoroughly, focusing not on their results but on the performance of individual players in their respective positions. We’ve looked at how they operate not only in away matches but also at home.
They’re a strong and dangerous team with excellent individual players. Our focus is on their potential, not why they haven’t won away yet.
On the Return of Conrado and Zhelizko:
– If they’re healthy, there’s a good chance they’ll play. Whether they’ll be the only changes will be clear on Saturday.
On the Matchup Between Dominik Piła and Kamil Grosicki:
– When a team has players like Kamil Grosicki, it’s exciting to face them. It’s even better if most of the duels against Grosicki are won, and the final result is in our favor.
