Coach John Carver answered questions from journalists ahead of the upcoming match against Motor Lublin.
On how the coach plans to deal with the absence of Zhelizko and Kapić on the field:
– I definitely have to come up with a solution. Losing two such good players is painful. In this case, I plan to give other players a chance, and we will be well-prepared.
On how long Zhelizko’s break will last:
– He’s had surgery and only had a week to recover. We need to give him as much time as he needs to get back to playing as soon as possible. We won’t rush him; he’ll return when he’s fully ready. I’m not a medic, so I can’t give an exact timeline.
On whether Szymon Weirauch will be in goal during the match in Lublin:
– I won’t say that right now, you’ll have to see for yourselves. The truth is he played in the last three matches before the season, so we’ll see. Both he and Bohdan are very competitive, especially for that position.
On the coach’s response to the ongoing transfer ban for the club:
– The club will issue a relevant statement today or tomorrow. My focus is solely on football-related matters.
On whether the coach has analyzed Motor Lublin’s opponents, considering they’ve beaten Lechia in the last three encounters:
– Let’s hope the situation will turn around in the upcoming match. I had the chance to watch two of their matches in Antalya, and that gave me some insight into them. I realize that we’re dealing with a tough opponent, with 4 wins, 1 draw, and 7th place in the table. The opponent will be difficult to beat, and the stadium will be full. This will be our first step in the new Ekstraklasa season.
On whether the coach has chosen Tomas Bobcek or Bohdan Vymnyk as the striker:
– You’ll have to wait and see for yourselves who I’ve chosen. We have a plan for Tomas after his injury; we want to gradually reintroduce him to training.
On how Camilo Mena has been performing after returning to play:
– When we were in Antalya, we had a plan for both Vinni and him. Although Camilo didn’t play 90 minutes last time, but between 45 and 55 minutes, he’s in good form, and we’ll see what he shows on Saturday.
On the coach’s stance regarding the team’s tough position in the table:
– I realize the seriousness of the situation. We’ll try to improve the situation; the next two matches will be difficult for us, as we’re facing tough opponents. But what matters will be what we work on in the long term. Our main goal is to stay in the Ekstraklasa.
