Coach John Carver answered journalists’ questions before the friday’s match against Widzew Łódź.
On the mood in the team after leaving the relegation zone, especially since Lechia had been in it for half a year:
Our goal is to stay out of it. Of course, everyone in the team is very happy, but we don’t intend to rest on our laurels. We have a tough match ahead against Widzew, where their new coach recently had a very good debut, which positively impacted the opposing team.
On why, according to the coach, Lechia earns the most points in matches where they have less possession:
That’s a tough question. We adapt our strategy and tactics for each match in a way that will bring us victory. The most important thing is to be effective.
On why Lechia performs well against strong teams like Jagiellonia or Lech:
I’ve always said that due to the young age of our team, we focus a lot on physical aspects, and on Saturday, for the first time, I started seeing the effects of that. It looks like our team is beginning to develop the physical strength needed to compete in the Ekstraklasa. However, the real challenge is still ahead. Staying out of the relegation zone is much harder than getting out of it. Every upcoming match is very important for us.
On whether Ivan Zhelizko is ready to play:
At the moment, Ivan is ready for a few minutes of play. Besides him, we have some issues with a few players, but nothing too serious.
