Winning dress rehearsal: Lechia – Chojniczanka 3:0

On Sunday afternoon, Lechia Gdańsk faced Chojniczanka Chojnice in their final dress rehearsal ahead of the return to league competition. The match ended in a 3:0 victory for the White and Greens, with goals from Camilo Mena, Bohdan Viunnyk, and Mohamed Awad Allah.

Lechia started the match with high intensity, quickly imposing their tempo on the game. The first threat came as early as the 4th minute, when Carver’s players combined well on the left wing. Four minutes later, the first goal for Gdańsk came as Camilo Mena found the net with a precise shot near the post. Just 120 seconds later, Tsarenko surged toward goal but was stopped by a defender.

In response, Kozina fired a dangerous shot at Sarnavskyi’s goal in the 14th minute, but the Lechia keeper tipped the ball over the bar. Shortly after, Tsarenko and Viunnyk combined well—Tsarenko played a perfectly timed pass, but Viunnyk’s effort went over the crossbar.

Lechia continued to dominate, keeping control of the game and not allowing the visitors much room to operate. John Carver’s side pressed forward consistently, creating chances, though finishing was lacking from Viunnyk and Zhelizko, who both tried their luck from distance. In the final play of the first half, Zhelizko was fouled in the box, and Lechia was awarded a penalty. Viunnyk converted confidently, giving the hosts a 2–0 lead going into the break.

One more after the break

Lechia opened the second half with another attacking move, with Mena taking a shot. The ball pinballed between players in the box, but despite the chaos, no follow-up found the back of the net. During the same phase of play, Olsson was brought down in the penalty area after a collision and had to leave the field shortly afterward. Ziółkowski replaced him in central defense.

In the following minutes, the tempo dipped slightly, and play moved primarily to the midfield area. In the 66th minute, Neugebauer struck a beautiful volley, but the ball missed the target. Three minutes later, a defensive error gave the visitors a chance, but Sarnavskyi reacted well and claimed the ball securely.

In the 74th minute, Lechia scored their third goal. Newcomer Awad Allah marked his debut with a shot across goal into the far corner. Lechia continued to press. Eleven minutes before the final whistle, Mena broke down the right flank but his shot lacked power and was easily saved by the Chojniczanka goalkeeper. John Carver’s side had more chances to extend their lead, but the scoreline remained unchanged.
