After the international break, league action returns. On Friday, Lechia will kick off the 8th round at home, facing GKS Katowice.
The press conference began with a question about the coach’s health, as he recently underwent a procedure:
It’s been a week since my procedure, and I have to say, everyone at the hospital was fantastic. The head nurse and the doctor were Lechia fans, and that probably helped (laughs). They took very good care of me. I do have a small issue because I still can’t shout, but Radek Bella will do it for me.
In the final moments of the transfer window, Lechia strengthened its squad:
Everyone worked really hard on those transfers. It’s always about bringing in more competition, and I think the transfers we made did just that. Of course, different players joined us at different times, so some of them will need a little more time before they reach proper form.
The arrivals of Matej Rodin and Bartłomiej Kłudka are meant to solidify the defense:
I hope this will fix some of the issues we’ve had so far. Time will tell. I’m excited because Matej brings experience to our team. I’m also pleased that he has leadership qualities. He communicates well with the defenders and has excellent physical attributes.
There was also a question about the midfield. Would the coach have liked reinforcements there as well?
If I had the chance to bring in one more player, it would have been a central midfielder, but we had set priorities. Anton is working hard to get back to fitness. And what will happen? We’ll have to manage the situation. In an ideal world, I’d like to have one more midfielder, but I’m not complaining!
What kind of game does the coach expect against GKS:
We played them at the end of last season, and they haven’t made that many changes. They have a defined style of play – a lot of energy, high pressing. It’ll be a tough match ahead of us, but every game in the Ekstraklasa is like that.
And the health status of the players returning from international duty:
Alvis literally just arrived at the club, so I haven’t had a chance to see him yet. Mo returned yesterday, Bobcek on Wednesday. We’re evaluating those players in terms of whether they can play and are monitoring their condition day by day.
