Maksym Khlan participated in a press briefing ahead of the match against Piast Gliwice.
On the team’s situation:
– We all understand that we are not in a good position in terms of the standings. However, we all, along with the fans, believe in the work we’re doing, we believe in this work, and we want to perform it as best as we can. We are optimistic. We approach the next match with confidence.
On playing in the Ekstraklasa:
– The Ekstraklasa is a higher level of play, and we are a young team, having just entered the league. We know we don’t have much time, but we’re working hard. We train intensely, and every training session, before and after, is analyzed. We’ll do what we’re capable of, and we know we are capable of more.
On Lechia’s poor form:
– If we approach each match individually, we’ve been creating chances and playing good football. If we refer to the last game against Legia, there weren’t as many chances, but we still tried to play our game. We conceded goals towards the end, but for most of the match, we looked good compared to our opponent. So, we are working on the end phases of matches. We know it’s our weakness, and we’re analyzing and working on it.
On his injuries and returning to form:
– In addition to team training, we have individual sessions, both on the pitch and in the gym. I’m not in my best form right now, that’s clear. But – I don’t want to repeat myself – we’re putting in the hard work, and we need to keep training. We are a young team with potential. I’m working on improving my form, just like everyone else.
On the lack of a substitute:
– When I step onto the pitch, I want to show my maximum. I don’t think about whether I have a substitute, I just try to give my all. As a professional, I have to be able to play 2-3 games a week. When we play in a normal microcycle, we have one game a week, so I don’t want to focus on whether there’s a substitute, but rather on my form. In the match against Legia, I was subbed off by Tomek Wójtowicz in the 75th minute, and he made a good impact. This is normal; there must be competition, and the decision on substitutions is up to the coach.
On returning to optimal form:
– I believe I’ll get back to my form, which is why I’m also training individually. Today’s training was at 100%, and tomorrow will be the same. I hope you’ll see my best form by Friday.
On the differences between the First League and the Ekstraklasa:
– It’s hard for me to answer that question. We’re not satisfied with where we are, but it’s still early in the season. We remember how we started in the First League, so we also believe we can improve our position in the table here.
On the lack of shots:
– We’re aware that maybe we need to change something in the training process, but that decision is up to the coaches. First and foremost, we hold ourselves accountable. We know that I, Viunnyk, and Mena haven’t been taking many shots, but we’re constantly working on that and trying to improve. This is the Ekstraklasa, and we need to adapt and step up our game.
