Dear All,
We keep on performing at a high-tempo the reconstruction of this club that we love as much as all our fantastic fans do, for the good of the people of Gdańsk and of the Pomeranian region.
Our strength and commitment is elevated by the passion, the support and the loyalty of our magnificent fans. Their unwavering support, especially during the historic derby that made us become champions has been incredible.
Winning the league was a monumental achievement, and we are all immensely proud of our team, but of course all our thoughts are already on the future challenges in Ekstraklasa and the steps we need to take to maintain our upward trajectory.
For this reason, our focus during these past weeks was on strategic planning and preparing for the next phase of this project, in order to ensure that we build on this success, and that our team will continue to improve, game by game.
As a matter of fact, the results on the pitch is of course at the end what ultimately matters and therefore we have put all our energy and hard work in improving the quality of the team and the staff.
We have greatly valued the contribution of Sir Kevin Blackwell and following his recommendation have reinforced the coaching staff in order to provide more comfort to the work of our very appreciated head coach Szymon Grabowski. We are also extremely satisfied with the level of commitment, dedication and competence shown by our Sport director Kuba Chodorowski and his scouting section.
As part of our strategic planning, we have already made several key additions to our coaching staff and strengthen our team with new players allowing us to compete at the highest level, since our goal is to continue to build a robust and competitive squad capable of achieving our objectives now in Ekstraklasa.
Effectively, our aim for this season is not just to stay up but to compete for top positions. We are ambitious and our ultimate goal is to establish Lechia Gdańsk as a formidable force in Polish football.
On the financial side of things, we have been successful in saving the club from bankruptcy and we have made many structural changes that were required since the future of this club was at risk.
Financial challenges are part of the process of restructuring and growth. We have been actively addressing these issues and have made significant strides in improving our financial stability.
Despite all our efforts to bring back Energa on our shirt as our main sponsor, the improper negative media coverage seems to have discourage any of the big state owned companies to join Lechia Gdańsk as a main sponsor for the second season in a row. We consider this as very unfair in view of all our efforts and the results that we brought, but unfortunately we cannot do anything about it. We are still actively seeking sponsorship opportunities that will align with our club’s values and vision. Having the right partners is crucial for us, and we remain confident that we will secure a very much needed sponsorship that is going to reflect the prestige and ambition of our club.
On an other topic and as an example of our will to work hand in hand with the Municipality of Gdańsk, we offered on July the 13th during an excellent meeting with Mrs Mayor Dulkievicz to have one representative of the City Hall appointed in the supervisory board of the club, in order to ensure that all subsides received will be properly spent in the sole interest of the development of our club.
Our commitment to transparency and responsible management ensures that all obligations will be met, and we are working closely with our owner in the United Arab Emirates to resolve any outstanding financial challenges.
In this regard, we have recently fulfilled all of Lechia Gdańsk obligations as required by the Polish Football Association and we are very grateful to the PZPN Club Licensing Committee for their understanding and support in the process of granting us the licence to participate in the Ekstraklasa 2024-2025 season. Similarly, FIFA just confirmed minutes ago that our transfer ban had been lifted!
Our team will start the new season with a match against Śląsk Wrocław tomorrow at 20:30 with all players available. We are still in construction and similarly as last season, results will come with the indefectible support of all our fans! We wish our team and all “White and Green” lovers a great 2024-2025 season! And more transfers to come! And more transfers to come!
Paolo Urfer,
President of the Management Board
