Lechia Gdańsk leaves Kraków with all three points! In Matchday 31 of the PKO BP Ekstraklasa, the White-Greens secured a confident 2:0 victory over Cracovia thanks to goals from Maksym Khlan and Ivan Zhelizko. With this result, the Gdańsk side strengthened their position in the table, moving further away from the relegation zone.
The match began with both teams cautiously testing each other. Cracovia attempted to control the ball in Lechia’s half and looked to attack down the flanks, though without creating serious threats. Lechia, on the other hand, opted for a more patient approach, aiming to exploit space on the counter. The hosts had the first real chance in the 10th minute when Hasić fired a strong shot, which was blocked just in time by Pllana. Moments later, Perković almost capitalized on a scramble in the Lechia box, but his shot went wide. The visitors also had their moments, pushing forward, but Cracovia’s compact defense effectively disrupted their efforts.
In the 17th minute, Khlan delivered a dangerous cross, but no one was there to finish. Both teams resorted to long-range shots, though accuracy was lacking. Cracovia looked for opportunities just outside the box, while Lechia tried individual runs. Neither side managed to break the deadlock before halftime.
White-Green efficiency after the break
The second half kicked off with more intensity. In the 47th minute, Maigaard sent a threatening shot on goal, but just moments later, Lechia took the lead. In the 49th minute, Maksym Khlan reacted quickest in the goalmouth scramble and slotted the ball past Lukas Ravas from close range. Cracovia tried to respond quickly but couldn’t find the breakthrough. Meanwhile, Lechia used every opportunity to launch fast counterattacks. Kapić came close to doubling the lead after dispossessing Jugas in the box. Zhelizko also had a chance, but his low effort in the 61st minute was saved by Ravas.
Tensions peaked in the closing stages. In the 86th minute, Sezonienko was fouled in the penalty area, and the referee immediately pointed to the spot. Ivan Zhelizko stepped up and confidently fired into the corner to make it 2–0 for Lechia.
